3rd and 5th in Lake Placid

Two team trials races down, two to go. Wednesday was the first race here in Lake Placid, it went pretty well, I got 3rd. I didn’t have the best runs that I had wanted but I kept it together and took 3rd. The second race was on Thursday and well it didn’t go as well. I was in 4th after the first run and had a horrible looking second run, so I moved back a spot to 5th. I was pretty disappointed with that but I am doing better now.

I wanted to go to Park City knowing that I was in a good place to make the world cup team, but instead I will just have to come from behind and slide the best I ever have in Park City.

My mom, dad, sister, aunt, and uncle came to the races here. It was great having them. I always love having family come and watch. It keeps everything a little more relaxed because I can spend my time with them not just sitting in my room.

I got my brand new sled though and it has been amazing to slide on. It is completely sized for me so I think this entire season will be great.

Well I have packed as much as possible, hopefully my suitcase isn’t too heavy since I know my sled and runners are wayy too heavy. My flight is at 11, so I have a shuttle leaving the training center at 7am. So much better than the 2am shuttles that I normally have because of the 6am flight.

I have a few more things to finish cleaning. I’ll write some more after I do my homework tomorrow once I get to Park City.

Season starts TOMORROW!!!

Well I am just getting ready for bed tonight and I am just so excited because we start sliding tomorrow night. I’m going to be so anxious all day tomorrow because we have to wait until 6:00 to slide.

I got my brand new sled on Friday night after I got back from being at the wind tunnel at RPI. I was so excited about my sled coming early because I really thought that I wasn’t going to get it until tomorrow night and I was going to be so stressed to pad and tape it really fast. I ran up and down the hallway and skipped my way down to the front desk. By the time I lugged my 65lbs box all the way up the stairs I was exhausted. I opened the box to find it packed with all packaging peanuts, after I took my sled out I got in the box with all the peanuts, mainly because it was the easiest way to clean them up. It is kinda fun to sit in a box full of peanuts!

My sled is perfect though, I am so excited to slide on it tomorrow, it fits me perfect and I am fully balanced. I finished padding it earlier today, that is a record for me. It took me a day and a half which is crazy because last year I spent 2 weeks  padding it all because I was so lazy I think. There are a few minor placed where I can fix the tape a little bit, but I am going to wait because I know I will fix a few more things before that.

About the wind tunnel, the students at RPI, down in the Albany area created a wind tunnel just for skeleton. I went down on Friday to try out a few things, it was a really long day, but in the end I think it was totally worth it.

It’s hard to get sleepy when you are really excited, but I am off to try to sleep it would be good to wake up early even though I don’t slide until the night. But next week I slide at 8am. Ouch that means waking up at 6, can’t think about that yet!
